In a significant development aimed at enhancing bilateral relations between Nepal and Japan, the Nepal Nippon Chamber of Commerce and Industries (NNCCI) has been officially established. Registered as a non-profit and social-service-oriented organization, the chamber seeks to promote collaboration and mutual understanding among industrialists, traders, and business communities of both nations.The NNCCI will focus on collecting and disseminating data and information on key sectors such as trade, agriculture, industry, and tourism to foster economic growth and development in Nepal and Japan. With this initiative, both countries anticipate deeper partnerships across multiple industries.
The inaugural general meeting of the chamber witnessed the election of its president, vice president, and board members. The chamber’s office was formally inaugurated by Mr. Tamura Takahiro, Deputy Chief of Mission at the Japanese Embassy in Nepal, marking a significant milestone in the chamber's journey.
Membership and Operations
The NNCCI is open to Nepali citizens aged 18 or above, with a membership fee of NPR 10,000. However, memberships are strictly non-transferable. In accordance with the Social Welfare Act 2049 and the Companies Act 2063, the chamber will require prior approval from the Social Welfare Council for any foreign financial, technical, or material support.
Operating on a non-profit basis, the chamber ensures that all generated funds are allocated solely to achieve its objectives. The organization will also rely on membership fees, grants, and other legal sources for financial sustainability.
Location and Future Prospects
The registered office of the chamber is located in Ward No. 27, Kathmandu Metropolitan City. Any amendments to its regulations will only be implemented through special resolutions passed by the general meeting.
The NNCCI aims to elevate Nepal-Japan relations to new heights by fostering economic, cultural, and industrial ties. Calling for collective cooperation and support, the chamber aspires to be a pivotal platform for strengthening bilateral ties between the two nations.
