Kathmandu, Nepal – WorldLink Communications Limited, Nepal's largest internet service provider and a leading ICT company, has secured a €10 million investment from Finnfund, a Finnish government-funded development financier.
This significant investment will be directed toward expanding WorldLink’s existing fiber network to improve connectivity across the nation. According to WorldLink, nearly half of Nepal’s population remains deprived of broadband internet access, with stark inequalities in connectivity between urban and rural regions.
The company aims to address these disparities through Finnfund's support, enhancing its infrastructure to provide more equitable internet services. "The expansion of our fiber network will reduce the urban-rural connectivity gap while also fostering economic growth," WorldLink stated in a press release.
Additionally, the investment will support the development of world-class data centers in Nepal, enabling better connectivity and contributing to digital transformation. With improved internet access, the initiative is expected to boost education, healthcare, and business sectors, further propelling the country’s socio-economic development.
WorldLink’s partnership with Finnfund aligns with Nepal’s goal of bridging the digital divide and establishing itself as a technologically advanced nation.
