Kathmandu, Nepal – The 26th annual Pokhara Street Festival is set to kick off on December 28, 2024, continuing its tradition of boosting tourism and promoting local culture and businesses. Organized by the Restaurant and Bar Association of Nepal (REBAN) Pokhara Chapter, the event will run until January 1, 2025, under the theme "Let's Celebrate the New Year on the Streets."
The festival has been a significant tradition for the past 25 years, fostering unity among the people of Pokhara and attracting both domestic and international visitors. The event is anticipated to enhance the tourism economy of Pokhara while showcasing its natural beauty, cultural heritage, and vibrant street activities.
The festival will feature a range of activities including local and international cultural programs, traditional dance performances, live music, art exhibitions, food stalls, and competitive events such as tug-of-war, sack races, and cycle rallies. Additionally, unique showcases of Nepali cuisine and handicrafts will be key highlights.
Bikas Bhattarai, the coordinator of the festival, emphasized the significance of this annual event for tourism and local businesses. He stated, “The festival not only brings people together to celebrate but also plays a vital role in boosting Pokhara’s tourism industry and supporting small entrepreneurs.” Bhattarai added that special efforts have been made this year to ensure international promotion, aiming to attract a higher number of foreign tourists.
