Timure, Rasuwa – The construction of a dry port at Timure in Rasuwa, Nepal’s northern border point with China, has reached 72% completion, according to Ashish Gajurel, Executive Director of the Nepal Intermodal Transport Development Board.
The project, which is being built with financial and technical assistance from the Chinese government, has made significant progress. Key completed tasks include the construction of a 700-meter-long and 5.5-meter-high cement pillar embankment along the Bhotekoshi River, access and exit roads for the port, land leveling, and the erection of two warehouse buildings.
The dry port is designed to enhance trade and logistical efficiency at the northern border. Once completed, it will feature a joint inspection facility, two warehouse buildings, and parking space for 300 cargo trucks and 100 smaller vehicles. The project aims to bolster Nepal's cross-border trade with China and reduce logistical challenges.
The construction team is working at full capacity, aiming to finish the project by the end of Ashar 2081 (mid-July 2024). This dry port is expected to play a pivotal role in boosting Nepal's economic connectivity with China and the broader region.
