Pokhara, January 3: The sixth national conference of the Nature-Human-Centric People's Movement, dedicated to environmental conservation and humanity's welfare, commenced today in Pokhara. Organized at the Thakali Community Hall in Nadipur, the two-day event aims to address contemporary challenges such as climate change, biodiversity conservation, and sustainable development while charting a path toward a nature-human-friendly society.
Former central chairman Sant Bahadur Ghising announced the completion of all preparations for the event, which has attracted approximately 200 representatives from across the country. The conference began with a morning rally from Pokhara Metropolitan Office in New Road to the venue in Nadipur, symbolizing solidarity for environmental and human causes.
The conference will focus on critical topics, including tackling environmental crises, mitigating the impacts of climate change, and formulating alternative social policies for long-term human welfare. It aims to devise innovative strategies to strengthen biodiversity conservation and sustainable development practices.
A series of expert presentations, group discussions, and strategic deliberations are planned during the event, leading to the election of new leadership and the formulation of a comprehensive action plan for the movement's future initiatives.
Established in 2002, the Nature-Human-Centric People's Movement has been a key player in raising environmental awareness and implementing conservation initiatives across Nepal and the SAARC region. The organization, which has successfully hosted five national conferences previously, is leveraging this sixth edition to enhance its impact and set the stage for a sustainable future.
With a legacy spanning over two decades, the movement continues to work toward creating a balanced relationship between humanity and the environment, making this conference a significant milestone in its journey.
