The Department of Transport Management has announced a revision in public transport fares, effective from Monday. This adjustment impacts both passenger and freight vehicles operating inter-provincially.
Passenger transport fares have been increased by 3.30 percent, reflecting the growing operational costs and inflationary pressures. Freight vehicles have also seen fare adjustments, with rates for vehicles operating on hilly routes rising by 0.81 percent and those on Terai roads by a marginal 0.05 percent.
This fare hike aims to address the challenges faced by the transport sector due to fluctuating fuel prices and maintenance costs. The department assured the public that the increase has been calculated to minimize the burden on consumers while supporting transport operators.
Public reactions to this announcement are anticipated in the coming days, as transport costs directly influence the prices of goods and services across the country.
