The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) Nepal GRAPE project, in collaboration with Global Shapers Kathmandu, successfully hosted the fourth and final edition of its ‘Global Talk Series’ on the theme “Climate Adapted Farming: Adapting Agriculture to Changing Climates.”
The event brought together a distinguished panel, including Nepali agricultural expert Alisha Madhavi Magar, Founder and Chairperson at Himalaya Agroecology, alongside two international speakers—Jill Leaness, Global Youth Programs Director, and Jennifer Fei, Global Shapers Programs Senior Associate at The Climate Reality Project.
The discussion delved into Nepal’s evolving agricultural landscape, particularly in the context of climate adaptation. With the increasing impacts of climate change on agriculture, the conversation focused on how farmers can integrate technology, improve water management, and navigate policy frameworks to build resilience in farming practices.
This final session also highlighted the outcomes of climate-resilient agriculture (CRA) workshops in Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces. These workshops, pivotal in addressing the challenges of climate change, offered critical insights into the needs and opportunities for promoting sustainable agricultural practices in these regions.
This event capped off a series that has been instrumental in fostering dialogue on sustainable agriculture and encouraging climate-resilient farming methods in Nepal and beyond. Through such partnerships, the GRAPE project and Global Shapers Kathmandu continue to advance critical conversations aimed at creating a more sustainable and adaptive agricultural future.
