Inaruwa, January 18, 2025: In a heartwarming gesture, 200 underprivileged and landless families in Ward No. 2 of Gadhi Rural Municipality, Sunsari, have received warm clothing to help combat the ongoing cold wave. The Rural Women Development Enthusiasm Forum (FORWARD) Sunsari, in collaboration with MetLife Insurance, distributed fiber quilts to families in Aurbani West Tole and Gadhi Tole.
The initiative was launched to address the biting cold that has severely affected the Terai-Madhesh region in recent days. The chief guest at the event, former minister Bhagwati Chaudhary, personally handed over the warm clothing to the beneficiaries, ensuring direct support to the most vulnerable.
The event, organized by FORWARD, was coordinated by FORWARD Microfinance Financial Institution. Speaking on the occasion, Chaudhary emphasized the importance of community-driven efforts to support those in need during adverse weather conditions.
"This initiative showcases how collective action and institutional support can make a tangible difference in people's lives," she said, thanking all stakeholders involved in the program.
The beneficiaries, many of whom are daily wage laborers or landless individuals struggling to make ends meet, expressed gratitude for the timely assistance.
The distribution drive is part of a broader effort to provide immediate relief to families severely impacted by the cold wave, which has brought significant hardship to the Terai-Madhesh region.
Such initiatives highlight the importance of collaborative efforts between local organizations and corporate sponsors to address pressing social issues effectively.
