Kathmandu, January 23 – President Ram Chandra Paudel has called on government representatives and institutions to prioritize people and development as the core focus of their governance efforts. Highlighting the importance of coordinated and transparent governance, he urged proactive measures to ensure efficient utilization of resources for the nation’s progress.
Addressing the chiefs and deputy chiefs of District Coordination Committees (DCCs) and officials from the Federation of District Coordination Committees Nepal during an interaction at the President's Office, President Paudel underscored the pivotal role of coordination and monitoring. He remarked, "Despite the challenges, the three tiers of government, along with the private and non-governmental sectors, are entrusted with significant responsibilities. These institutions, as the backbone of our democratic governance system, must work with people and development at their center."
The President further stressed the need for increased vigilance and dynamism in monitoring whether plans, budgets, and directives are being effectively implemented. "When local plans and processes are carried out with accountability and efficiency, development accelerates, and the resources are utilized optimally, contributing to the nation’s growth," he added.
President Paudel also reminded the DCC representatives of their constitutional responsibility to balance development efforts across rural municipalities and urban municipalities. "The constitution has clearly delineated the roles of federal, provincial, and local governments. District Coordination Committees play a crucial role in maintaining this balance, ensuring effective monitoring, and fostering coordination for sustainable development," he noted.
The interaction coincided with the 30th Anniversary of the Federation of District Coordination Committees Nepal, for which President Paudel extended his best wishes, encouraging continued efforts to strengthen local governance and development.
As the nation strives to overcome developmental challenges, President Paudel's emphasis on accountability, coordination, and people-centered governance highlights the critical steps needed for sustainable progress.
