Lalitpur, January 31, 2025 – Nepal is set to make significant strides in sustainable energy development with the event "Unlocking the Green Monetization of Nepal’s Hydropower: How Nepal’s Power Producers Benefit," hosted at Hotel Himalaya, Kupondole.
The program, organized by the Independent Power Producers' Association of Nepal (IPPAN) in collaboration with the International Hydropower Association (IHA) and ProClime, aims to address the monetization of Nepal’s abundant hydropower resources through green energy solutions.
The event features prominent speakers, including Mr. Erik Solheim, Climate Champion of the Global Renewables Alliance, and Dr. Ram Prasad Dhital, Chairman of the Electricity Regulatory Commission (ERC). Other key speakers include Mr. Ganesh Karki, President of IPPAN, and Dr. Maheshwar Dhakal, Joint Secretary and CCMD Chief at the Ministry of Forest and Environment.
Special guest Mr. Dipak Khadka, Minister of Energy, Water Resources, and Irrigation, will officially launch the Nepal IREC Calculator, a groundbreaking tool for promoting renewable energy certification.
The discussion will also include insights from Mr. Kavin Kumar Kandasamy, CEO of ProClime, and Mr. Ashok Kumar, Senior Manager of the Global Carbon Council, highlighting international perspectives on green energy opportunities.
The program promises to provide actionable insights into how hydropower producers in Nepal can benefit from global carbon trading mechanisms and renewable energy certifications, fostering a greener future for the nation.
