The program, spearheaded by IFSA Hetauda, NYCA Hetauda, Bird Conservation Nepal, and Climates Nepal, aimed to protect wetlands, which are essential for biodiversity, water conservation, and climate resilience. Volunteers worked tirelessly to clean local waterholes, ensuring a healthier habitat for aquatic species and enhancing water storage capacity in the region.
"Wetlands are the lungs of our environment. This initiative is a step towards safeguarding biodiversity and promoting water security in the face of climate change," shared a representative from Bird Conservation Nepal.
The event showcased the power of collaboration. Students, conservationists, and community members joined hands to highlight the role of wetlands in mitigating climate change and supporting sustainable development.
This year's theme, “Wetlands Restoration: For People and Nature,” resonates deeply with Nepal's ongoing efforts to balance environmental conservation and development. The Hetauda initiative is a testament to the transformative impact of grassroots action in achieving this balance.
As we celebrate World Wetlands Day 2025, let us recommit to protecting these lifelines of the planet. Together, we can build a greener, healthier future for generations to come.
Ecosphere News applauds the dedication of all involved and encourages similar efforts nationwide to sustain the vitality of our wetlands.
