Lalitpur, Nepal – The Fastfood Association Nepal (FAST-FAN) inaugurated its Lalitpur branch on February 8, 2025, bringing together 42 fast-food entrepreneurs under one platform. The expansion marks a significant step in promoting collaboration among fast-food businesses while emphasizing service quality and hygiene.
The association has formed an 11-member executive committee to spearhead its initiatives, with Sanubabu Khatri serving as President and Ram Kumar Shrestha as Secretary. Operating under the slogan "Excellent Service, Hygienic Food, and Entrepreneurs' Welfare," FAST-FAN aims to address key challenges in the fast-food industry, including maintaining food safety standards and enhancing customer satisfaction.
According to Ram Kumar Shrestha, who is also the Manager of Classic Tandoori & Banquet Hattiban, highlighted that "Our focus is on providing excellent service, ensuring hygienic food, and undertaking welfare activities for entrepreneurs," he stated.
While this development is expected to benefit local entrepreneurs and consumers, the environmental and developmental implications of the fast-food sector warrant attention. Fast food establishments are often associated with increased packaging waste, energy consumption, and reliance on single-use plastics, raising concerns about their ecological footprint.
Ecosphere News urges FAST-FAN to incorporate environmentally sustainable practices into their operations. Steps such as promoting biodegradable packaging, waste segregation, and energy-efficient practices could align the industry with Nepal's broader sustainability goals.
As the fast-food industry in Nepal grows, balancing economic development with environmental responsibility remains crucial. Ecosphere News will continue monitoring and supporting initiatives that prioritize both entrepreneurial growth and ecological well-being.
