The aircraft, a Bombardier CRJ-900LR, was en route from Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport with 80 individuals on board, including 76 passengers and four crew members. The landing took place at approximately 2:45 p.m. local time on a snow-covered runway. Emergency responders acted swiftly, evacuating all passengers and crew from the aircraft.
Of the fifteen reported injuries, one individual remains in critical condition, receiving care at a local trauma center. The other injured individuals, including a child, were treated for minor injuries. Fortunately, there have been no fatalities reported.
The Transportation Safety Board of Canada (TSB) has launched an investigation to determine the cause of the crash. Preliminary assessments suggest weather conditions and runway surface conditions may have contributed to the accident, but further analysis is required.
This incident raises questions about aviation safety amid challenging winter conditions. Authorities are urging airliners to exercise heightened caution and implement stringent safety protocols during adverse weather events.
