Mugu, Nepal - The Nagma-Gamgadhi roadway, a critical route connecting remote areas in Mugu district, has been reopened after being obstructed by heavy snow at Ghuchhilekh since last Thursday. This development has brought significant relief to local travelers and transporters.
With the proactive efforts of the District Administration Office, Mugu, and the Road Division Office, Jumla, snow up to two feet thick was cleared from the Bulbule area to the Sattamod Pina section using an excavator. The operation, which began on Friday morning, successfully reopened the road by Sunday evening, ensuring smooth vehicular movement.
Dozens of passenger buses, freight vehicles, and vegetable transport trucks resumed their journeys soon after the road was cleared. This rapid response prevented prolonged disruptions that have historically plagued the region during winter months.
Local driver Dhansingh Wali commended the Road Division Office's preparedness, stating that the availability of excavators and personnel in key locations greatly facilitated the timely removal of snow and landslides. In contrast to previous years, when roads would remain blocked for weeks or even months during adverse weather, this year's swift response has minimized hardships for locals.
This initiative demonstrates the importance of preparedness and collaboration in addressing infrastructure challenges in remote Himalayan regions. With proper resources and planning, critical lifelines like the Nagma-Gamgadhi roadway can be maintained, ensuring connectivity and supporting the livelihoods of local communities.
