Kathmandu, March 6, 2025 – The Nepal Sanitation Tour 2025 is set to take place from March 26 to 28, bringing together mayors and deputy mayors from across Nepal to explore innovative sanitation initiatives. Organized by ENPHO and CWIS Alliance Nepal, this strategic event aims to empower municipal leaders with hands-on knowledge of sustainable urban sanitation solutions.
The three-day tour will cover seven key sanitation sites across four cities in two provinces, including Mahalaxmi Municipality, Waling Municipality, and cutting-edge facilities such as faecal sludge treatment plants and wastewater treatment systems in Kathmandu and Lubhu. Additionally, participants will gain insights into public sanitation systems, such as the Aerosan Public Toilet in Patan, and sustainable tourism-linked initiatives, like the Waterfront Resort in Pokhara.
The tour's objective is to foster knowledge sharing and provide municipal leaders with actionable insights into city-wide inclusive sanitation (CWIS) approaches. Participants will engage in site visits, demonstrations, and discussions with key stakeholders, including representatives from government agencies, development partners, and the private sector.
“This initiative is a crucial step in building cleaner, healthier cities in Nepal. By learning from successful examples, municipal leaders can replicate and scale sanitation solutions in their own regions,” said Ash Kumar Khaitu, Program Manager at ENPHO.
Interested municipal leaders must register by March 15, 2025, to participate in this transformative event. With sanitation being a critical pillar for urban development, the Nepal Sanitation Tour 2025 promises to be a landmark effort in promoting sustainable and inclusive practices across the nation.
