Pokhara, Nepal – The scenic tourist hub of Pokhara turned into a vibrant celebration of colors as foreign tourists joined Nepalis to mark the Holi festival, also known as the festival of colors. The lively event was centered in Lakeside, where tourists from various countries immersed themselves in the spirit of Holi by playing with colors and participating in cultural festivities.
Holi, a major traditional festival in Nepal, symbolizes the victory of good over evil and is celebrated by smearing colors on each other, dancing, and singing. This year, the celebration in Pokhara saw enthusiastic participation from both locals and tourists, showcasing the unique blend of culture and hospitality that Nepal is known for.
The Restaurant and Bar Association of Nepal (REBAN) Pokhara organized a special program to mark Fagu Purnima, aimed at engaging foreign visitors in Nepal’s cultural heritage. The event included a rally that began at Ambot and concluded at Hallan Chowk, featuring a traditional Nepali Panche Baja procession, local tourism entrepreneurs, representatives from various organizations, and domestic and international tourists.
REBAN Pokhara President Bishwaraj Paudel noted that around 200 foreign tourists actively participated in the rally. "We organize this event every year to introduce tourists to Nepal’s rich cultural traditions. It is a way to share our culture with the world and create memorable experiences for visitors," Paudel said.
The event demonstrated Pokhara’s growing appeal as a cultural and tourist destination. It also emphasized the role of community and tourism organizations in promoting Nepal’s unique festivals on an international scale.
With the success of this year’s program, Pokhara continues to establish itself as a vibrant cultural hub, where traditions and tourism blend seamlessly to offer visitors an unforgettable experience.
