Saptari, Nepal – In two separate fire incidents in Saptari district, 13 houses were completely destroyed, causing significant property damage and loss of livestock.
The first incident occurred on Tuesday morning in Lalapati, Chhinnamasta Rural Municipality-4. According to local authorities, the fire was triggered by an electrical short circuit. The flames quickly engulfed the houses and sheds of Dev Narayan Pandit, Rameshwar Pandit, and Jugeshwar Pandit. The fire destroyed clothing, grains, furniture, utensils, mobile phones, and gold and silver ornaments. Tragically, two goats and a buffalo also perished in the blaze.
In another incident on Monday evening, five houses were destroyed in Ward No. 6 of Rajbiraj Municipality. The fire, which started from Dubilal Yadav’s shed due to an electrical short circuit, damaged four structures belonging to Yadav, including two sheds, a kitchen, and a residential house. Neighbor Suresh Sharma’s house and furniture, including stored wood, were also destroyed.
The fires were brought under control with the help of fire engines from Rajbiraj Municipality and the Police Training Center, alongside the efforts of locals and security personnel.
Authorities have called for increased awareness about electrical safety and preventive measures to avoid such incidents in the future. The affected families are left in dire need of support as they recover from the devastating losses.
