Kathmandu, March 20, 2025: The Secondary Education Examination (SEE) 2081 is set to commence across Nepal on Thursday, Chaitra 7, at 8 a.m., with all necessary preparations now complete. The National Examination Board and the Examination Control Office have assured students and stakeholders that the process will be conducted smoothly and securely across 2,079 exam centers nationwide.
Nanda Lal Poudel, Controller of Examinations for Grade 10, confirmed that no issues have been reported from any exam centers. "All preparations for the SEE exam are complete. Reports from districts confirm that necessary arrangements, including security measures, are in place. We urge students to confidently reach their exam centers and focus on doing their best," Poudel stated.
Record Number of Participants
This year, a total of 514,071 students will sit for the SEE exams, marking a significant increase of 49,286 participants compared to last year. Kathmandu District leads with the highest number of examinees at 39,600, while Manang reports the lowest with only 43 students.
In an effort to make the examination inclusive, arrangements have been made for students in remote and unique circumstances. For instance, 29 students will appear from an exam center in Japan, and facilities have been set up for students from the Central Prison in Kathmandu, two prisons in Dailekh, and a juvenile correction home in Bhaktapur. Additionally, four HIV-infected students from the Safalta HIV Education Academy in Kirtipur will also take part.
Strengthened Security and Efficient Management
Each exam center has been fortified with enhanced security to ensure peaceful and orderly examinations. Centers accommodating up to 150 students will have one assistant superintendent and one examiner for every 20 students. However, centers with fewer than 75 students will operate without an assistant superintendent.
Examination Schedule
The SEE exams will run daily from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. from Chaitra 7 to Chaitra 19. The schedule begins with mandatory English, Sanskrit (for Vedic students), and Arabic (for Madrasah students) on the first day.
Key subjects like Nepali and Mathematics are scheduled for Chaitra 8 and Chaitra 10, respectively, while Science and Technology exams will take place on Chaitra 12. The exams will conclude with elective subjects on Chaitra 14 and 15.
Results and Grading System
The Examination Board aims to publish the results by Asar 7 and will continue using the letter grading system. Students need a minimum of 35 marks to pass each subject. Notably, the Board has set a goal to achieve a 70% pass rate this year, a significant leap from last year's 48% success rate.
A Call for Confidence
The SEE represents a pivotal milestone for students in Nepal, and authorities have left no stone unturned to create an environment conducive to their success. "We appeal to students to approach the exams with confidence and focus on their studies without fear or anxiety," emphasized Poudel.
With meticulous planning and robust support systems in place, this year's SEE is set to proceed as a well-organized and impactful event, reflecting Nepal’s commitment to advancing its education sector.
