Kathmandu – Siddharthanagar Municipality of Rupandehi district has been recognized as Nepal’s best municipality for the fiscal year 2080/81. The prestigious honor was conferred by the Municipality Association of Nepal during its 32nd anniversary celebration held in Kathmandu. Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli presented the award to Siddharthanagar Mayor Istiyak Ahmad Khan and Deputy Mayor Uma Adhikari in recognition of their exceptional leadership and the municipality's remarkable achievements.
The municipality received this award for its exemplary performance in urban planning, infrastructure development, and disaster management, scoring an impressive 85% in the evaluation process. The association evaluates municipalities across the country annually based on multiple performance indicators, including urban planning, transportation management, and water supply systems.
Expressing his gratitude, Mayor Khan attributed the achievement to the collective effort of municipal representatives, employees, and residents. “This award reflects the hard work and dedication of all stakeholders, including the people of Siddharthanagar. It inspires us to continue our journey of making the municipality a benchmark of excellence,” he stated.
Deputy Mayor Uma Adhikari echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the municipality's commitment to improving the quality of life for its residents.
