Ian Wall, a seasoned mountaineering instructor, founder of Off-the-Wall trekking company, and CEO of KEEPS, opened the session by discussing the opportunities in adventure professions in the UK and abroad. He highlighted the growth of the adventure industry globally, emphasizing the demand for skilled professionals across diverse sectors of outdoor recreation.
Speaking on the opportunities closer to home, Mr. Ang Tshering Sherpa, a mountaineer and tourism entrepreneur who founded Asian Trekking, explored the growing prospects for adventure careers in Nepal. He shared insights into the rich potential the country holds for trekking, climbing, and tourism-based professions, stressing the importance of sustainable tourism practices.
Chandra Ale, founder of Initiative Outdoor and a wilderness emergency medical technician, expanded the discussion beyond traditional mountain and river-based activities. He encouraged participants to consider adventure professions in less-explored areas like wilderness safety, emergency response, and outdoor education, which are gaining global attention.
Bishnu Gurung, Director of Big Smile Nepal, wrapped up the event with a brief talk on international opportunities for Nepali adventure professionals. He highlighted the growing demand for trained experts in outdoor recreation across Europe and North America, urging Nepali adventurers to take advantage of international opportunities.
