Kathmandu, Nepal – The 34th meeting of the Asia-Pacific Telecommunity (APT) Wireless Group (AWG-34) commenced in Kathmandu on March 31, 2025, bringing together regional stakeholders to discuss advancements in wireless communication technologies. The event, which runs until April 4, 2025, is a significant platform for policy discussions, technical collaborations, and regulatory updates in the telecommunications sector.
The AWG operates under the APT, focusing on the development and harmonization of wireless technologies across the Asia-Pacific region. The Kathmandu meeting aims to address emerging trends in 5G deployment, spectrum management, and the integration of next-generation communication networks. Representatives from telecommunications authorities, industry experts, and policymakers from various countries are participating in discussions that could shape the future of wireless connectivity in the region.
The meeting is jointly supported by Nepal's Ministry of Communication and Information Technology (MOCIT) and the Nepal Telecommunications Authority (NTA), emphasizing the country's growing role in regional digital transformation efforts.
