In a concerted effort to bolster the livelihood sector, the AIN (Association of International NGOs) Livelihood Working Group held a meeting at the Catholic Relief Services (CRS) office in Nepal. The gathering focused on strategies to strengthen the group, emphasizing that livelihood is a fundamental component of the development sector, intricately linked to other thematic areas such as poverty reduction, agriculture, and sustainable development.
During the meeting, members reached a consensus on the importance of sharing knowledge and expertise through the publication of best practices, success stories, and innovative approaches from AIN Member INGOs. This document will serve as a valuable resource for replicable models in livelihood programs across Nepal.
A significant portion of the discussion centered around a proposal from the National Farmers Group Federation of Nepal (NFGFN) to organize a policy dialogue on the 'Effectiveness of Nepal's Agri-Insurance Policy, Challenges, and Way Forward.' The group recognized the importance of addressing these challenges and acknowledged that a focused dialogue could provide critical insights into improving the effectiveness of agri-insurance, a key tool for safeguarding the livelihoods of Nepal’s farmers.
As the group works towards strengthening coordination and collaboration among its members, this meeting set a clear path for actionable steps to ensure that livelihood programs are effective, scalable, and beneficial for communities across Nepal.
