Kathmandu, April 10, 2025 – The 11th National Summit of Health and Population Scientists in Nepal kicked off today in Kathmandu, bringing together researchers, policymakers, and development partners to address critical health, climate, and population challenges. Organized by the Nepal Health Research Council (NHRC), the three-day event runs until April 12 under the theme “Health, Climate, and Population Dynamics: Building Resilient Health Systems for a Sustainable and Equitable Future.”
Since 2015, this annual summit has provided a vital platform for fostering evidence-based decision-making and bridging the gap between research findings and policymaking. This year’s event comes at a crucial time as global health systems grapple with the impacts of climate change, population growth, and inequities in healthcare access.
Inaugurating the summit, NHRC officials emphasized the importance of collaboration in addressing these multifaceted challenges. “This summit serves as a unique opportunity to translate research into actionable policies, fostering innovation and strengthening resilience in Nepal’s health systems,” said an NHRC representative.
The National Health Policy 2019 of Nepal underscores the role of health research in driving public health improvements and economic development. However, challenges remain in utilizing research effectively to inform policies. The summit aims to close this gap by providing a platform for dialogue and collaboration among stakeholders.
Participants are engaging in discussions through oral and poster presentations on topics such as the health impacts of climate change, emerging trends in population dynamics, and strategies for achieving equitable healthcare.
The event reflects Nepal’s commitment to addressing global health concerns while prioritizing sustainable and equitable development. Ecosphere News will provide comprehensive coverage of the summit, showcasing its role in shaping the future of health systems in Nepal and beyond.
